BBC managers seem to think they are getting “21 minutes” of Dukas …

… when in fact Kirill P has programmed only the 2-minute brass Fanfare pour précéder ‘La Péri’, written a year after the 1911 poème dansé.

Can’t wait to hear Schmidt 4 with the BPO. It’s an amazing piece.

  • PaoloM says:

I also saw La Peri, in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, in February, and Petrenko did not conduct the fanfare. I am now in Berlin 800 meters far from the Philharmonie wainting for the concert and will see in Salzburg next Sunday and Monday….Can’t wait too.

  • BPhil fan says:

The season opening concert was just amazing.

  • Tony Sanderson says:

The BPO concert in Lucerne on 30th will be available on their digital concert hall. The Proms concert will be available on BBC Radio 3.

I was at the Prom concert where the Yuja Wang played Bartok’s Second Piano Concerto with Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Fransisco Symphony. That was pretty good and people round me were saying she is a genius. If you want to check it out for yourself her perfomance of the conerto with Sir Simon Rattle and the BPO is included on the CD/BluRay set of their tour of Asia which is available on the BPO’s own label. It would be interesting to hear what people think of these performances.

I’m with Mr. Oakmaountain in looking forward to the Schmidt 4.

  • Tony Sanderson says:

It would be interesting to conduct s statistical analysis of pianists mentioned on slippedisc.com. I should think young Yuja would come out top for most mentions.

  • Tony Sanderson says:

Also, Yuja Wang’s perfomances of Prokofiev’s 3rd and 5th piano concertos on the same evening with Gianandrea Noseda and the Verbier Festival in the concluding concert of this years festival are available on medici.tv

The audience obviously enjoyed the evening.
