The restrained and intense cellist Guy Fallot has died in Lausanne, Switzerland, at 91.

Aside from a solo career, and the sobriquet ‘Napoleon of the cello’, Guy taught for decades at the Geneva and Lausanne conservatoires.

  • Lord Bus Stop says:

I found the Debussy recording absolutely riveting.

    Thank you Guy Fallot…

  • PG says:

Guy Fallot was indeed an elegant cellist and man. I studied with him in Geneva in the early eighties when he was about to restart his performing career after an extended absence due an accident. His warmth was genuine together with Fournier he represented the cello aristocracy.
