Ex-wife who smashed 54 violins is jailed for 2 years
mainA woman who wrecked her luthier husband’s musical instruments in the midst of an alimony dispute has been sentenced to two years by a Japanese court in Nagoya.
Qin Yue, 35, wrecked 54 violins and 70 bows and scrawled graffiti on the walls of her husband’s workshop.
She is described as ethnic Chinese, he as a Norwegian in his 60s.
Their divorce was finalised in 2016.
Qin Yue is appealing the sentence.
Court report here.
An ethnic Chinese in a Japanese prison…she will pay very hard for her madness.
She merely performed Johannes Kreidler’s “Audioguide”:

Unbelievable
In Australia only men are the instigators of domestic violence. Just so you know.
Time to pass similar sentences on reckless/aggressive security personnel and baggage handlers at airports… judging by all the reports on Slipped Disc (which are, surely, the tip of the iceberg), some of them must have got through at least 54 instruments (not meaning to disregard the 70 bows).
The sentence would have been 5 years, but she also smashed some violas.
No, she only smashed violins. The judge however used to be a violist, which is why she only got 2 years instead of 5.
Worse than that, as well as smashing violins, I think she repaired some violas. So it should have been life.
Yet more viola envy.
