Bochum will lose its Generalmusikdirector in 2021.

He has been named Honorary Conductor for Life.

  • Doug says:

Does that mean that “after life” he will become “Un-Honorary Conductor”?

  • Jeffrey Biegel says:

Good luck to Steven. He has accomplished much for this orchestra and for the city of Bochum. He conducted a brilliant European premiere of the original 1924 Rhapsody in Blue with me in the days before the new concert hall existed. Wish him well and the future of the orchestra he is leaving on a tremendous high.

    • Barry Guerrero says:

Jeffrey (hoping you’ll read this), I love the “Concerto in F”. Have you played that anywhere? I’ve played tuba and percussion in the concerto – really good orchestration. That and “American in Paris” are my favorite Gershwin.
