Message from the LA Phil:

Kristin Chenoweth (pic) has withdrawn from the previously announced Bernstein 100 Celebration with Dudamel at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday, July 10, at 8pm. Due to ongoing complications from a past neck injury, Kristin Chenoweth is taking some time off from performing so that she can properly heal.We are delighted to announce that American actress, singer, and dancer Sutton Foster will make her Hollywood Bowl debut on this program.

Sutton Foster can currently be seen starring as the lead of Darren Star’s hit TV Land series, “Younger.”

Not quite the same league.

Comments

  • AMetFan says:

The final comment was nasty, untrue, and uncalled-for. At least in New York. If we’re counting, Sutton Foster has won 2 Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical (with four additional nominations) and Kristin Chenoweth has won 1 Tony Award (with two additional nominations). Ms. Foster is not a light-weight in American musical theater.

  • Dominic Stafford says:

    Don’t be ridiculous.

Sutton Foster is a well-established Broadway star with two Tonys to her name.

They’re lucky to have got her.

  • Bruce says:

I dunno — Chenoweth is great, but Foster doesn’t seem to be completely terrible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ePZkQ-9z64

  • DirtLawyer says:

I love K-Chen, but if she had to be replaced, Sutton Foster would be my very first choice. She’s a legitimate triple-threat trouper.

  • Nigel Simeone says:

Having heard and enjoyed both of them live several times, Sutton Foster would be my first choice every time. She’s a wonderful performer.

  • Jaime Herrera says:

Who was it that made that comment about “not quite the same league.”? What difference does it make? This is Leonard Bernstein you’re talking about, not J.S. Bach.
