She succeeds Lydia Kontos, who is retiring, having spent just three years in San Francisco.

Sorry but….Kaufman is a much bigger place than a “place that specializes in contemporary music”. This is misleading and just incorrect. Face the Music (a component of Kaufman) works with music education and living composers. Kaufman also is the umbrella that encompasses the Lucy Moses School (a community music school that has dalcroze, traditional and Suzuki departments and more), the Special Music School (a school K-12 that combines a daily public school with a rigorous curriculum to develop professionally minded training) and also Merkin Hall.

Congrats, Kate. Happy return `a la Grosse Pomme. SFCM will have to search hard to fill your shoes.
