Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra has named Sebastian Weigle, music director of Frankfurt Opera, as its next principal conductor. He succeeds Sylvain Cambreling next April.

Weigle presides over probably the broadest opera repertoire of any company on earth.

He will remain MD at Frankfurt.

    Oh, good !
The Frankfurt 18-19 season is one of the most exciting ones….

I read a hilarious comment on Japanese social media. He said that there was a horribly poor horn player in orchestra (I have heard about that several times) and he expected the Maestro(ex-horn player) to firmly train him.

  • Beinisch says:

Sebastian is a great musician and wonderful conductor.
His performances in Bayreuth were outstanding.
Every orchestra will benefit if he works with.

  • Fabio Luisi says:

An excellent orchestra and a wonderful conductor and human being. Congratulations Sebastian!

    • I got only one occasion to perform under maestro Weigle a few years ago, and as noted by everyone in these comments he is truly remarkable. Very good work with the orchestra, and a memorable Wagner/Strauss concert !
