In fact, Kazimierz Gierżod was Rector of the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw, and later President of the Towarzystwo im. Fryderyka Chopina (Chopin Society). He continued to be active until very recently, including membership of the Program Board of the Chopin Institute.
