Martha was using both hands last Friday at the Paris Philharmonie applauding Nelson Freire in a truly magnificent recital. Less than a month before she did the same in Brussels for Barenboim. True friendship in both cases.
She’s a force of nature, incredibly generous of musical spirit, and I believe that in my lifetime I will never hear another pianist who is her equal.

I’d say no shortlist of greatest living pianists is complete without her.
Is is a pity, though, that several very great composers are missing from her concerts and discography.
