This is a natural transition and I’m assuming a planned one. The opera, however, is not “headless” – it has a fine young CEO and former opera singer (a MN Opera resident artist) who learned the managerial ropes from the invaluable Kevin Smith, the CEO of the opera for 25 years and now the CEO of the Minnesota Orchestra which he will leave in great shape in August 2018. The Minnesota arts community is deeply in their debt.
