Congratulations to Dr Francis Jackson, master of music at York Minster from 1946 to 1982 and former president of the Royal College of Organists.

He turned 100 on October 2nd and continues to compose.

    I once met Johann Adam Reincken in 1720 he was 102. He played An Wasserflüssen Babylon for me in the Katharinenkirche, Hamburg. Afterwards I improvised on it for over half an hour with 20 variations with a 3 part fugue, afterwards, he said he thought that art was lost but I see it still lives on with you.
