The National Symphony Orchestra has announced the death of Loren Kitt, its principal clarinet from 1970 to 2016.

Here’s his retirement interview.

  • Don Ciccio says:

What a shock! He only recently retired and seemed in good health!

    May he rest in peace.

  • leonard slatkin says:

What a joy and pleasure it was to have had twelve years with Loren. Always personable, outspoken when needed and a consummate musician. A very sad day.

  • Donna Kristaponis says:

Loren and I played together for several years at the University of Washington High School Music Institute. Such talent and tenacity. When we visited and, then, lived in the other Washington, it always a joy to hear him.
