America’s oldest conservatory of music is getting a reboot.

Dean Fred Bronstein has announced an unprecedented new intake of teachers.

He says: ‘I’m reasonably sure that there has never been another academic year with so many new faces, perhaps since Peabody’s beginnings. You’ll hear about these individuals as the year unfolds.’

So no new names for the moment, and no names of the teachers who are being replaced.

At least one Baltimore Symphony player has been dropped, we hear.

  • Wai Kit Leung says:

According to Marcell T. who posted on an older thread here, oboist Katherine Needleman is the Baltimore Symphony player who got dropped “for a harsh dispute with a student”

  • What kind of dispute was that? Any PC stuffs involved?

  • Robert Holmén says:

It is difficult finding high-level teachers.

There are many high-level performers who will take students but fine performers do not always make fine teachers.

    • esfir ross says:

Fine performers’re not necessary good teacher but they attract more student and that what give school reputation.

  • Don Hohoho says:

It’s not difficult to find great teachers if you take the time to find them. I suspect he did not.
