Aussie maestra gets an agent

Elena Schwarz, presently assistant to Mikko Franck at the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, has signed a worldwide agency deal with Sulivan Sweetland.

    • That is factually incorrect. Maestro or Maestra both mean the same in Italian – they simply differentiate between the gender of the person referred to. Some might think that the male form of the word—Maestro—is the only form to be used when referring to a musical master (i.e. not necessarily a conductor, but a distinguished musician), and I suppose they might think that because this has historically been a male-dominated role. However, it would be incorrect to address a female as Maestro.
