What could be more collectable?

Comments

  • John Cheek says:

He who could write the rite of spring, if I be right by rights should swing

  • Armchair Bard says:

“Mr. Stravinsky: you have the right of spring; but anything else you compose can and will be used…”

  • Olassus says:

Well, in fairness, Warner’s reissue speed has been phenomenal.

  • Thomasina says:

But what is this? Is there a trap as in the case of SKD’s video?

  • Robert Roy says:

    Another ‘auto correct’ fail…

  • Mikey says:

sort of like my old vinyl of the Poulenc “sextour”, which gave us many juvenile chuckles back then.

  • trolley80 says:

I have a terrific recording by the Cleveland Orchestra of several beloved Symphonies by Franz Josef Hadyn.

  • Wurtfangler says:

Good god – it is a travesty that the EMI legacy is in such inept hands! Warner’s awful design shows they have no style, but it seems they have no knowledge either.

    • Gene Gaudette says:

At long last, EMI truly stands for “Every Mistake Imaginable.”

Note to NL: I have something a hair more collectible among my vinyls: a UK RCA Gold Seal release of Dvořák’s Ninth Symphony credited on the sleeve to Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony that was in fact Jascha Horenstein’s recording with the Royal Philharmonic.

  • Petros Linardos says:

    Another collectable item:
In a 1998 EMI reissue of the Richter/Kleiber recording of the Dvorak piano concerto, the front of the booklet incorrectly lists as orchestra the “Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks” (sic) while displaying the original LP cover with the correct orchestra, i.e. Bavarian State Orchestra. I can barely read the latter now, when wearing my reading glasses, though I remember instantly noticing the error when I bought the CD almost 20 years ago. Maybe the cover was proofread at EMI by someone over 45…

  • Richard Zencker says:

Of course nowadays all that matters is the tempo of the Danse Sacrale.

  • William Safford says:

Stravinsky’s sequel, “The Left of Spring,” just hasn’t caught on yet.

  • jim says:

    The Wrong of Spring…

  • Wally Francis says:

Nobody seems to care about the odd speling/gramatickle errer in these days of
    phone/text and twitter speak!

But anyway it’s a splendid pair of performances from the CBSO and Rattle which
have stood the test of time and deservedly earn the epithet ” Essential Classic”
