The soprano Genia Kühmeier has pulled out of the Berlin Phil’s season-opening concert tomorrow and its tour to Salzburg, Lucerne and Paris. She’s unwell.

Her last-minute replacement in Haydn’s Creation is the young French soprano Elsa Dreisig.

Rattle conducts.

  • Music Lover says:

I was under the impression that Rattle is still MD in Berlin until June 2018.

    • Meal says:

Correct, indeed. During the 2017/18 season Simon Rattle will hold two postions: chief conductor and artistic director at the Berliner Philharmoniker and music director at the London Symphony Orchestra.

    • Andrew Barnard says:

Planning to end a position at the end of a season does not make one an ex-MD. Norman is just trying to give cheap digs at a conductor he constantly tries to belittle. Hint: it hasn’t been working.

  • Fernando says:

Not to forget that Dreisig was first prize in Operalia 2016.

  • Wow, another rising star! Born in 1991, Ms. Dreisig is not even Dreißig.

  • Theodore McGuiver says:

She made an unforgettable impression at the Victoires in 2016, too…

  • Gerald Mertens says:

Bertelsmann NEUE STIMMEN 2016 Competition winner and ICMA 2017. Outstanding soprano!

  • Tommy says:

I’ve been listening to this opening performance now. I’d call it an success in every part.

And Elsa Dreisig was absolutely fantastic to listen to !!
    A natural born talent. What a voice…
