Bach bust-up: Boss quits JEG’s Leipzig Bach Archive

Alexander Steinhilber, managing director of the Leipzig Bach Archive has submitted his resignation, giving two weeks notice.

He cites personal reasons for leaving the plum post which he only took up 18 months ago.

The President of the Bach Archive is the British conductor, Sir John Eliot Gardiner.

    Well that’s longer than many managers of the Monteverdi organisation have lasted!

    I’ve given up attending his concerts these days – I find his stage presence so bumptious and grand I don’t enjoy even looking at him. I confine myself to the recordings.
