Decca Gold, Universal’s US classical label, has signed the American countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo.

His debut album, released late 2018, will consist of arias by George Frideric Handel and Philip Glass. Both will be accompanied by Les Violons du Roy, conductor Jonathan Cohen.

Comments

  • Humphrey Chimpden Earwicker says:

Ugh, how dreadful, Glass. The only glass Handel liked was Claret.

    • Paddy Blair Mayne says:

Quite right old boy, and Grande Cru to boot. He got his cellar stocked from Lord Radnor.

  • Observer says:

Les Violons du Roy actually use modern instruments with period bows for 18th-century repertoire.

  • André Paradis says:

Les Violins du Roy is a fine band. Can be very exciting in fact. Have heard them on many occasions, most recently here in Toronto with Jaroussky and the evening was a thorough delight. The question and drama will be about what this new (to me at least) countertenor will be like!!
