Boston regrets: Dohnanyi is still poorly

From the BSO press office:

At the advice of his doctors, Maestro Christoph von Dohnányi regrets that he cannot appear with the Boston Symphony this summer at Tanglewood. He is continuing to heal from a fall he suffered earlier this year and looks forward to leading the BSO as scheduled in November.

His replacements are David Zinman and Juanjo Mena.

  • INSANITY =def. repeatedly scheduling Christoph v. D after repeated cancellations due to ill health. He cancelled on the Chicago SO a year ago, this year, and is still scheduled to conduct next year.

    • Coz people want to see him conducting. The expectation is high, the occasion is rare. Sometimes the Vorfreude is even more wonderful than the actual concert experience.
