Not surprising that he won. Victor Julien-Laferriére is a major talent and the current crop of young French cellists is impressive indeed.
Bravo for Victor Julien-Leferriére. I know him from his several chamber music recordings with the marvelous pianist Adam Laloum. This is good news indeed.
This Victor was indeed victorious for the right reasons. I heard/saw him on Belgian TV, what he did wat totally convincing and very impressive. Especially if you consider the music as such.
