Roberto Alagna and his wife  Aleksandra Kurzak have announced their withdrawal from the ROH’s L’Elisir d’Amore.

In an instagram message, he says he is suffering from tracheisis. He withdrew in the middle of tonight’s performance and was replaced by Ioan Hotea. Not clear if she is continuing.

@royaloperahouse #sosorry #tried but #havetostop #rohelisir #tracheisis … #seeusoon with @aleksandra_kurzak #love to all 😓😣

  • Andrew Condon says:

    Tracheitis

  • Nik says:

    Both are still listed for Thursday’s performance.

  • ROHfan says:

    Neither performed, with Alagna barely making it through the first scene and Kurzak pulling out days previously (which you would have noticed if you had even bothered to check the ROH website).
    Ioan Hotea and Jennifer Davis gave career-making performances in a thrilling double act that must surely be repeated soon!
