Well deserve medal, Congratulations Meister!
Although rarely mentioned in the media, his new Bruckner cycle with the Gewandhausorchester is my all-time favorite. It is one of the few new SACD releases which could justify itself through pure artistic value.
Just heard him in Vienna last week, conducting the Vienna Philharmonic. Mozart 39, Bruckner 4.
Young, lithe and smiling.
Having great time with the music, and so (it seemed) did the orchestra, which played superbly. The audience loved him.
The interpretation was very good (Mozart), superb (Bruckner).
“Ad 120”, Till 120 years, as said in Hebrew.
Hope Maestro Blomstedt will go on for many, many years!
An amazing and often overlooked conductor. I endorse the comment above about his Bruckner recordings. Ad multos annorum, Maestro!
What a splendid orchestra is the Gewandhaus and its beautiful venue is equally wonderful. I was there in 2015 and absolutely loved it. Good luck, too, Maestro Blomstedt.
