Label news: Chandos signs a winning pianist
mainBarely is the ink dry on Ivan Ilic’s contract than the UK boutique label has snapped up another interesting artist.
The Italian Federico Colli, winner of the 2012 Leeds competition, has signed a multi-album deal, starting with Scarlatti sonatas and followed by Bach-Busoni.
Is Chandos still considered a “boutique” label? How many thousands of releases does a label have to produce to move beyond the “small” description?
I understand the history of the term, and perhaps the folks at Chandos, Hyperion and BIS take some pride in the designation, but it seems an inadequate description after all these years.
I liked the you-tube you posted here …
