Ex-symphony violinist is convicted of attempted child rape

Alexander Ross, 59, a former violinist in the Omaha Symphony, has been found guilty of attempted first-degree sexual assault on a child and third-degree sexual assault on a child.

Ross founded the Omaha Conservatory of Music after being fired from the University of Georgia for sexual misconduct. After leaving the conservatory, he worked at an Omaha violin store.

    Worth noting, I think: A commenter to the linked article stated that this person hasn’t worked at the Omaha Conservatory of Music for thirteen years, and hasn’t been with the Omaha Symphony for at least that long.

    He effectively got 2 1/2 years in prison for the rape of a 13 year old girl. He was convicted of 3rd degree sexual assault on a 16 year old violin student a few years prior in Nebraska. Before that, he was fired from the University of Georgia for sexual misconduct. He could be out in 2019 if he gets probation. How is that fair?

      It’s not. He was assaulting fellow students at the University of Michigan before that including friends of mine. I hope he serves the full term.
