Grigolo, while finishing a run of Hoffmann at LA Opera, heard a woman singing Puccini to a taped background on a street downtown. He stopped, joined her and threw in some coaching tips.

She told friends it changed her life.

Does anyone know her name?

have fun and let others have fun … any way this was creative of him ( and her) and hopefully he washed his hands before 😉

  • Ungeheuer says:

Or more likely, Vittorio and his PR team are bloodthirsty for publicity, publicity, publicity. And yet more publicity.

    • Alexander says:

      …… you’ve got a point though 🙂

      • Olassus says:

Now she will sue him and say she was demeaned, humiliated, and inappropriately touched in front of her regular Santa Monica customers, and has a bruised neck, jaw problems, and lower self-assurance thanks to his reckless and unwanted interference.

  • William Osborne says:

She has a beautiful, well-trained voice. She should be a cast member in a full time opera house. Sadly, this can’t happen in the USA which has fewer opera performances per capita than all other developed countries except impoverished Portugal.

Here’s a list of the 117 cities in the world that have more opera performances per year than Washington, D.C. (which has the 9th largest metro GDP in the world.) Only 4 of them are American. Notice that many of the cities are vastly smaller and less rich. (The listing is from Operabase, a site I highly recommend.)

Moscow had over 10 times more opera performances last year than Washington. Ironically, Peking had 57 Western opera performances, exactly the same number as Washington — the so called the capital of the Western World. Anyway, we see why this gifted woman is singing on the street.

    I love it

  • SDaniel says:

He has a very well trained voice, possibly was giving decent coaching. Interesting that she is very audible and he seems not to have any volume at all. But for goodness sake, he should have broadcast her name!

  • Lori mitchell says:

I was there and it was simply amazing.
He was not singing but just marking giving her the space to sing a project the sounds he wanted to ;))))) super !!!!
