The international podium is absolutely awash in Finns, but no Norwegian would (pace the Beatles) get to conduct the Vienna Opera.

Until last night, that is, when Eivind Gullberg Jensen broke the ice in Tosca.

    OK – thanks for enlightening me.
    I know he is a Swede, I just took a parallel view on Swedish conductors and VPO. I have seen and heard Blomstedt conduct the BPO almost every year (with great success to my ears) but missed out any VPO engagements.
