The Hamburg GMD has called in sick for the next fortnight.

Eliahu Inbal will take over the prized opportunity of Mahler’s Symphony of 1,000.

  • John Borstlap says:

That was almost the Symphony of 999.

  • Alex Benjamin says:

Funny coincidence. When Charles Dutoit left the Montreal Symphony in 2002, one of his upcoming concert was to be Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 for the opening of the Lanaudière Festival. He was replaced by… Eliahu Inbal.

  • Pedro says:

    Good news!

    • McGarriglebear says:

Good news in what respect? Are you celebrating that someone is ill?

      • Max Grimm says:

        Good news that…
        …the concert isn’t cancelled.
        …the original program remains unchanged.
…the conductor filling in for Kent Nagano has been credited with very good Mahler readings.
All of that is without celebrating someone falling ill.
