Labour MP to become lobbyist for British music

Michael Dugher, 42, Labour’s former shadow culture secretary, is stepping down as MP for Barnsley East to become chief executive of UK Music, a lobbying and promotional group.

He was sacked by Jeremy Corbyn in January for ‘serial disloyalty’.

    It’s fairer to say he’ll be the lobbyist for rock & pop. UK Music has tended to ignore classical. Plus Mr Dugher famously said that public funding should go to brass bands rather than orchestras and opera.
