Iceland tightens grip on Osmo Vänskä

  • Vänskä was the chief conductor in Iceland for three years in the 90s, so I would see it as a continuing involvement with the orchestra rather than them tightening their grip, as you put it. I was lucky enough to be playing with them last week, and Vänskä led unforgettable performances of Sibelius, Beethoven and Aho. There’s clearly a lot of mutual respect.
