This is the best the Swedish sporting authorities could manage for an international final.

The singer, who is a Russian living in Sweden, cannot sing in tune, forgets the words and only gets to the end with the help of Russians in the crowd.

Almost an international incident.

She briefly switches to the words of the old soviet anthem halfway through…. not sure why.

  • John Borstlap says:

It’s the aleatoric version, apt metapohor of contemporary Russia.

Yes that’s right up there, I’ll add it to my list. Here’s one of my favourites: New Zealander (they hate us) Ricky May singing the Australian one at a major sporting event in Adelaide back in 1987. Good luck fellas!

Golly. It sounds like they put out an ad asking if anyone knows the Russian anthem and is willing to sing it in public — no audition necessary. The expression on the hockey player’s face at the moment she finishes (1:55) says it all.

  • Robert Holmén says:

A refreshingly spontaneous and un-lipsynched performance in this age of pre-taped fakery!

We could wish that all Russian infiltrators of eastern European countries were so capable.

    просто пиздец
