The action, by Lincoln Center officials, appears to justify her fears.

    Wasn’t she referring to herself?

  • Ungeheuer says:

Does “David H. Koch Theatre” mean anything? It is obvious that Lincoln Center is more interested in protecting the feelings of its wealthy Republican donor base than in acts of legitimate and spontaneous freedom of speech from its paying public. Isn’t Lincoln Center the beneficiary of taxpayer-funded subsidies?

Does “David Geffen Hall” mean anything? The incident took place in a hall named for a rich Democrat.

In any case, the concert hall is not the place for shouting matches to take place in – even “silent ones”. Attention in the hall belongs to the performers, not audience members with a “look at me” shirt on.

      • Marg says:

Ditto. I think there are a few places where political slogans dont belong – the concert hall is one.

      • Ungeheuer says:

Oh well. I suppose wealthy Democrats have sensitive feelings to protect too.

” […] audience members with a “look at me” shirt on.”
It appears as though there would not have been a problem had she been wearing a “look at me” shirt. According to the article, wearing an actual sign does not conform with a law, banning leafletting and demonstrations in and around Lincoln Center. A Lincoln Center lawyer is quoted as stating that had she worn a t-shirt or a button with the same statement, it wouldn’t have been a problem.
Personally, I agree with you. Opportunities for concertgoers to engage in shouting matches or political pissing contests outside of concert halls abound.

If Trump is President long enough – who knows whether there will be any performing arts going on at Lincoln center…

  • John says:

Chill, folks. The sign was on her back. Once she was in her chair, nobody would have seen it.

  • Mario Denis says:

does Freedom of Speech not belong belong EVERYWHERE???
what is the difference between that T and ugly dresses, tacky blue hair or ill fitted suits?????? none, they all are expressions of one’s affiliations….whether tacky or noble who are you to judge??? if you don’t agree simply swallow the pill and enjoy the concert.

    Pathetic from both sides.

  • Mark says:

I witnessed a similar incident at the London Philharmonic concert at David Geffen Hall on Sunday – a rather peculiar-looking gentleman was asked by security to remove a large anti-Trump button he wore on his jacket. The security guard said that Lincoln Center prohibits political campaign signage of any sort.
