The tenor has pulled out of today’s segment of his residency at London’s Barbican Centre, a public conversation with young singers. His next engagement is on Monday.

Jonas is sorry to disappoint the public, but has a cold today and has to cancel this afternoon’s event.

That is a bit wet. A cold? Since when does that stop you giving to the youngsters?

    • lizbie says:

No, it is not ‘wet,’ it is caution so as to have the best chance of being fit for Monday, The ‘giving to the young’ would have involved a lot of singing as well, and no one should sing through a cold.

  • Vienna calling says:

Very wise. Singers should sing, not talk. I hope he’s well on Monday.

  • Dave says:

    Poor Baby!

  • Pedro says:

This may explain why he was not on top form in the Wagner concert which I attended last wednesday at the Barbican. Mattila as Sieglinde was the queen of the evening and Kaufmann, against all expectations, was not at the same level as Siegmund and in the Wesendonck. He acted poorly and his singing was very restricted, though he woke up in ” Wälse” and “Notung”.
