James Judd reigned recently as music director of the Israel Symphony Orchestra (Rishon Lezion). Soon after, Zubin Mehta announced he was stepping down at the Israel Philharmonic.

This weekend, the able Ariel Cohen (l.) said he was stepping down after four years as general director of the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon Lezion.

We hear that a search has begun for a successor to Avi Shoshani, who has held the reins for 40 years at the Israel Philharmonic.

This could be a golden opportunity for renewal.
