From a typically honest interview with Peter Donohoe:

What have been the greatest challenges of your career so far?

1 Taking the plunge in my early 20s and deciding after all to be a solo pianist.
2 Maintaining the natural sense of British taste and reserve at the same as learning to be emotionally open, and keeping the balance between the two.
3 Playing Bach.
4 Standing in for Daniel Barenboim playing Bach.

  • Jeffrey Biegel says:

Genuine and true form of Peter in this interview. Indeed some wonderful moments reflected from one of our most respected musicians. (Peter–glad to read that you list the 1971 tour of ELP. You have shared previously that you are a devout fan of the Progressive Rock legends). One phrase Peter shares is that the piano chose him. It is a defining moment to discover for a keyboard musician. A future thread of interest might be, “Why the piano chose me”. What is it about this inanimate object with a keyboard and large set of strings attached to a harp that draws us in to make it a life’s commitment? Why the piano? Perhaps that is the larger question outside of the music itself.

Translated: “no! Don’t read about him! Make everything about me!Me, Jeffrey Biegel! Me!”

Lol. I used to be annoyed by horrifyingly blatant narcissists, now am just amused at the desperation of the mini Trumos trying to build their imaginary Kingdoms.

Not to mention how long it took me to realize this wasn’t Jeffrey Siegel, a genuinely fine pianist.

  • Wai kit leung says:

He is going to play two concerti in one concert tomorrow, standing in for the ailing Peter Frankl on one of the concerti.

  • Simon J Evnine says:

==standing in for the ailing Peter Frankl
