La Scala debut for Ian Bostridge

In other Britten news, Frankfurt Oper next month presents its first staging of Paul Bunyan, alternately described as an early folk opera, or Singspiel.

As it will be sung in English, at least he’s unlikely to have anyone shout out, “imparate Italiano” at him (unlike his recent experience in Germany).
Si dovrebbe imparare Italiano, or if you want to be extremely rude, then Impara Italiano!!! imparate .. you’re telling the whole audience to go and learn Italian, and in a very aggressive manner!!!
We wish him best of luck and trust that his bad experience he had recently in Austria(!) will not happen again.
A joke that a mouse ‘tenor’ a no voice, a product of the British record industry will grace the stage of la scala.
Bostridge is an intelligent man but let’s face it, there’s is no voice at all to speak of.
Okay for a house concert for family and friends
A ‘mouse tenor’? I don’t wish to be rude, but that’s such complete rubbish. Bostridge was a marvellous Quint nineteen years ago for the Royal Opera, performing then, so far as I remember, at the Dominion, which is bigger than La Scala.
