Another principal loss, mourned by the LSO

The LSO was sad to hear of the death of former Principal Bass Clarinet John Stenhouse on 28 August 2016 at the age of 74.
John began his career in the BBC and English National Opera. He played as a freelance musician with all the major orchestras and ensembles before joining the LSO… He retired from the Orchestra in 2007.
A fantastic teacher and coach, too. An incredible player.
I only just found out he’d died.
He taught me piano at RCM London in the 60’s
Used to rest his cigarette on the ivories,
I remember him well, a good teacher and musician.
Last saw him at the Royal Albert Hall when I played trombone at a Tchaikovsky evening during the 70’s.
