Our colleagues at Resmusica report the cancellation of the Nice Jazz Festival, following the July 14 terror attack that took 84 lives.

The festival was due to run July 16-20 with Youssou N’Dour, Melody Gardot and Laura Mvula as headline artists.

Three days of national mourning are being observed.

Music won’t make it better.

Seems like the French just can’t manage it on their own. They’ve already got a state of emergency and military on the streets, but with the muslim population of 10% or 6 million, they’ve got themselves in a quandary. This wonderful country has often been a soft target over the past 150 years, because they are not very good fighters and they are much better at arts and culture. Some very harsh measures are need right now, that could lead to suspension of some rights and freedoms that we’ve grown so accustomed to. Shall anyone in France, Belgium and the rest of Europe for that matter, be able to pull it through? Can D. Trump pull it through in America? I don’t know. Let’s hope so.

Donald Trump??? You must be joking!

    • John says:

      Ditto. Ridiculous!

    • Mick says:

Europe might well need American help in this war, as it indeed was the case several times in the last century as well, and Trump is the only one at the moment capable of standing up for something. For all his shortcomings, if not he, than who? Sometimes any kind of leadership is better than none at all.

  • Mathieu says:

Mick & Holly: you too should get married. And take a long, very long honeymoon somewhere in some Trump Hotel or Casino.

  • Mathieu says:

    You TWO. Damn.

    • Mike Schachter says:

Most amusing. But then you have the inspirational M.Hollande. I gather that World War II was not won by floral tributes on the site of Coventry Cathedral.

      • Peter says:

True. It was won primarily by about 20 million killed Soviet soldiers (a fact mostly overseen in western revision of history) and also by the American military-industrial complex. (about one million American, British and French soldiers also gave their lives for the noble cause)
