The heading initially invoked a spectacular gender-bending biological development.

  • Robert Holmén says:

Wow, having a child at 47!

  • John Wilshire says:

What’s wrong with having a child at 47? Wake up!

    • Ilio says:

Medically, it’s tougher on the mother for one thing.

Any pregnancy where the mother is 35 or older is considered a “geriatric pregnancy.” (I didn’t make up the term, I learned it from a friend who became a mother at 38. She learned it from her physician.)

There’s nothing “wrong” with it, of course; it’s just unusual, and people are naturally expressing surprise.

And talk about “geriatric”… she’s going to be 68 when that kid is out of college!

Best wishes to her, and may she continue to have lots of energy.

  • Luis says:

Oh my goodness! Let people to be free!

When there is so much love to give, who cares if she’s 47. Yes, there are risks when the woman’s 35 or older, but if she’s willing to take the risk, that’s her decision to make.

  • OHGLORIOSO says:

Mazel tov to the happy couple!
