Paris Opéra announces deepening loss
mainStéphane Lissner has written to staff at the Opéra de Paris, telling them that the company is €2 million in the red since January as a result of strikes and work stoppages. Seven nights have gone dark at the Opéra.
Earlier in the season, low box-office returns were blamed on the aftermath of the Paris terror attacks. Staff bonuses have been cancelled. The end-of-year results are awaited with concern.

Don’t the sad people of France understand that their nation is totally bankrupt? None of them wants to work any hard, which is what they need to do to increase GDP and pay down debt. Instead they protest, riot and strike. Dumb. And dumber.

Dear me, what a blinkered view of the world and a myopic attitude towards horrendous economic problems. Much like the people on strike, I expect. Here’s an idea; invite a couple of million refugees in!! You can afford it!! And they won’t strike but will be glad to work for much lower wages than the French people. I’d mortgage my house on it.
I am not an American, and I don’t think that is anything to brag about these days either.

There was a chance to fix the endemic laziness and work to rule mentality at the Paris Opera when the Bastille was opened. It was missed by the socialist functionaries who ran the country into the ground over 14 years
I went to Meistersinger in March and was shocked by the mediocrity of the orchestra and the atrocious brass playing
I am not American but the Reagan 1981 air traffic controller treatment is what these striking opera workers, taxi drivers, train drivers, air traffic controllers etc need and deserve
