The international pianist Siegfried Mauser was sentenced yesterday in Munich to 15 months jail and a 25,000 Euro fine for sexually molesting two female faculty members at the Munich Academy of Music, where he was in charge from 2013 to 2014.
The sentence is a preliminary judgement and may change after further judicial procedures. Mauser, 61, will not go to prison until further arguments are heard.
He was suspended as rector of the Salzburg Mozarteum a week before the trial. The Mozarteum council will meet early this week to decide his professional future.
