Abbey Simon, 96, is ready for comeback after broken hand

The venerable American pianist has gone quiet of late.

That’s because he broke a wrist and two fingers in a Houston car crash earlier this year.

But a few pins and some good physio have put him back on the road to rehab.

He’s planning his next concert.

    One of the finest American pianists and still going strong. I remember him when he was teaching at The Juilliard School in the 1980s. Godpseed to this fearless titan!

    Just how long such an injury takes to be healed? I’ m asking because something similar has happened to our pianist/maestro, a sort of Darth Vader of music, and we are not eager at all to have him back… All the best and a triumphant come back to Abbey Simon!

    My brother Michael was one of the promising students who was selected to study with Abbey Simon when he volunteered his talents at The Brooklyn Music School Settlement early in his career. Generous as well as talented.
