Italy sends in cost-cutter to save Arena di Verona
mainThe Italian Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini has appointed a state commissioner for the Arena di Verona in a last-ditch attempt to save the bankrupt opera site.
The commissioner is Carlo Fuortes, who is credited with saving Rome Opera by means of severe economies and job cuts.
