Looks a hell of a lot more comfortable than the traditional penguin suit.

  • Doug says:

Marie Antionette playing shepherdess. How quaint.

Hope them to attract the right audience… Even though concert halls should be open for every one; for the young and the old, the rich and poor, it shouldn’t be considered as something it is not, classical music is not popular music, classical music is what it is, it takes time to create audiences, and people not only have to love and feel affinity to this music but they must want to learn and think about it. The more you know the more you enjoy and understand its greatness and splendor…. You must aproach classical music to the people through education, not by confusing them.

  • Nick says:

What’s wrong with it? After all, why are penguin suits the norm? For the simple reason that that is precisely what most of the audience were wearing when they were introduced. Times have changed. Admittedly a riot of colour on stage for a solemn work might be distracting. But somehow orchestras have to do more to attract new audiences. That has been a constant refrain in this blog for years. This is certainly worth a try.

  • John says:

Clothing is not the problem: do you know anyone who wants to attend but is put off by what an orchestra wears? The problem is that most people are ignorant of the music itself.

  • Bennie says:

    Seems like April Fool’s joke

  • Doug says:

And another thing. I grew up in Detroit. My mother worked over 25 years on the GM assembly line. She never wore Carhartts. Those are for urban hipsters only pretending to do something productive.
