The incoming conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic is having great difficulty fitting the orchestra into his busy schedule in the years ahead. Kirill Petrenko is music director at Bavarian State Opera and takes his responsibilities there very seriously.

He has no concerts scheduled yet, so far as we can see, on the Berlin Phil website.

However, he has managed to squeeze in one concert with the Berliners on Easter Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Baden-Baden, the festival has just announced.

It’s a start.

Given that there’s only a few months left of their current season left to go and they haven’t announced their new season is it any surprise you can’t find any information about forthcoming plans? Contact their press office and see if they have any info on forthcoming projects with Maestro Petrenko.

Umm, we don’t even know most of Rattle’s plans with the orchestra for next season.

Meanwhile, everybody should go to Amsterdam in June 2017. Petrenko is conducting the Concertgebouw in Siinfonia Domestica and Mozart K. 467 with Lupu. It should be something special.

Petrenko will conduct the BAYERISCHE STAATSORCHESTER in Paris on September 12 at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
