  • Sixtus says:

Perhaps instead of what should have been “Duh duh duh duuuuuh” of the first movement, they are drawing attention to the “Duh, duh, duuuuh: of the main theme of the finale..But I doubt it.

    • Dan says:

Does anyone else remember the marvelous PDQ Bach “oil crisis” version which dispensed with one “Duh” per bar in order to reduce the length of the symphony by a quarter? In times of austerity perhaps this is the BBC version?

  • James says:

I saw that and chuckled. Bet you what happened was a last minute cut to make it fit Twitter’s specified tweet length…

    • RODNEY GREENBERG says:

Don’t think so. The correct version for the first movement would have been Duh duh dudah …. which is 2 characters shorter than the BBC’s tweet.

  • Joel says:

Some days ago when i was in supermarket (in a Scandinavian capital) paying my food stuff an annoying guy with American accent and with a long looking-like-a-Vietnam-veteran-beard was coming right in front of my face and said: “DUH-DUH-DUH-DUUUH ??? Never been in a supermarket before?? Cant you move any faster ?”

(It was the cashier who was being slow). Even though I am a peace-loving man for a split of a second I had a feeling I wanted to punch him right in the face. The use of Beethoven’s 5th in such a situation was a sacrilegious act … !
