mainThe Mayor has issued a notice that all vehicles except emergency services must be off the streets by 2.30pm today.
Mayor’s text message: Emergency Alert: All non-emergency vehicles must be off the roads in NYC by 230pm until further notice.
Bryn Terfel revels in snow, outside the Met.
I just saw a report from Washington DC on TV, the journalist did tell about the terrible situation, but behind her on the snow covered street many people walked with dogs, on ski, waved in the camera, many cars passed. Real funny. One man complained that the subway is closed for three days, insane he said, they drive underground, I do not understand.
In New York the Met seems to play tonight, did perform yesterday. I heard from people who want to go to the performance, a good chance to get a ticket. Well, do hope that all will be safe!

There are miles of the DC Metro that are above-ground. If I recall correctly, part of every single line is above-ground at some point.
Correct, and they are storing trains in the tunnels, instead of outside, so that they can get up and running sooner.
Am not sure about downtown DC… I’m in Alexandria and there is at least two feet of snow and counting outside my house. I have tickets to see Gatti next Sunday at the Kennedy Ctr., wonder if that will happen or not…
Photo1is nothing short of enchanting.
Your enchantment has come at the cost of a number of lives, and thousands of people languishing without power, in a very cold climate, and people not able — and in some cases not allowed — to go about their business.
Costly.
