The unusual career of ‘classical’ former child singing star Jackie Evancho has taken a further twist with the publication in People magazine of the gender reassignment of her sister, Juliet. Both sisters talk exclusively to the celebrity publication.

Well, Norman, you have completely ignored Jackie and her accomplishments the past year, not even bothering to mention her performance for the papal people, or even her performances with Andrea Bocelli! But it seems you are excited about her sister Juliet enough to invite some of your more vile followers to provide your blog with their hatred. How about, instead, you follow up with letting your followers catch up with Jackie and her music?

The article that the links take you to isn’t about Jackie or her music, it’s about her transgender sister who it appears wasn’t forced to do the interview.

Setting aside questions of relevancy to this site or what anyone thinks of the young woman’s music, the way she has been marketed and so on, I admire the family here. From reading this, my sense is that they did their homework, sought proper guidance, and handled a delicate situation with sensitivity. They handled a delicate situation with sensitivity, and they set an example of support, acceptance, love. Where a child is concerned, nothing is more important than that.

    • Rum says:

Yes they handled it delicately and sensitively without God in consideration.

Ironic, isn’t it, when a major attraction were the religious songs sung by an angel? Not very delicate to hop back and forth over the fence and declare they are Catholics when suchlike is expressly forbidden. There is no need to hook a wholesome, burgeoning career to a contentious social issue. Of course, if the younger sister has been getting all that attention and pretty dresses, the older sibling might like some of that for himself. Very dysfunctional in my opinion.

As well it should be. Praying to a non-existent deity is an exercise in futility.

I am always amazed when people confuse art with real life. This is a failing not only by Hollywood stars, performers, even opera stars like Maria Callas, and their audiences who in turn buy into any escapist fantasy. One can also include Japanese adults dressing up, believing they become their favorite anime characters and who form the bulk of visitors to Tokyo Disneyland, not kids.
It may be that we are too inundated with simulations of life so as not to be able to distinguish between the two but when life really happens, there are grave consequences. A kid when finally mature emotionally may wake in the morning some fine day and realize that all this cross dressing was a kind of whimsical experiment, something he really didn’t want to do or get stuck with (to the point of mutilation) except he was encouraged by the inordinate amount of attention while doing so.
In effect it was diverting a little of all that glory his younger sister was getting for the past 5 years to himself, but can’t turn back as MANY ADOLESCENTS DO AND GROW OUT OF TRANSGENDERISM, if they are brought up in proper homes.
One of the most repeated slogans around Jackie Evancho is to shut up because she is “following her dream”. Apparently, there are less and less individuals of maturity who would trim young vines so they do not become wild, who will buck the tide of what used to be called political correctness, but is political ridiculousness, and put their kids on the right path. “When you wish upon a star”, fate is not kind and anything your heart desires does NOT come to you except if you work for it.
Choices were seemingly made for that girl in the family to keep on the same easy path without serious vocal tuition, as fate will come down and see her through.
Letting a young person indulge in such whims is fraught with problems, not only for the person’s mental health – it doesn’t pay to encourage confusion and cognitive dissonance as to one’s body and mind) but for the institutions that have to accommodate them. And this is happening increasingly with boys wanting to use girls’ restrooms. (The opposite doesn’t seem to faze the men however.)
But not only that to parade dysfunction on mass media, not to wait, seek counsel, and keep what should be private just that, as I mentioned in the event of a flip-flop, is really catering to the bottom of the barrel sensationalism.
I don’t know how we have come so far down the pike culturally when counter intuitive becomes the norm. And this is also strange because atheists usually uphold the new mores who worship science and despise religion, although there is NO rational WAY a genetically conceived male can become a female or vice versa.

I don’t care what Jacob/Juliet does and it’s no business of any of the rest of you either. Gay and trans people have it hard enough without a bunch of religious claptrap signifying nothing being sent their way, much less the brutal violence they have to endure from the godsquadders.

  • Stephen Runnels says:

Another beautiful, growing and demonstrable experience for Jackie with her new release of “Writing’s on the wall” by Sam Smith from the movie SPECTRE. Juliet is featured modestly, but of course there are some whose latent desires shout ‘TRANNY’ at the mere sight of her. Such is the pitiful ignorance of those who live to judge others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBjsDhqRMOA&feature=player_embedded

Who’d a thunk fashion magazines would promote potentially dangerous and destructive social ideologies on teenagers? Anyone with half a brain would see that these are not children’s games. If the source is dysfunction, trying to live as the other sex would only compound the mistake. They don’t tell you what’s up ahead, last stop, incontrovertible body harm and a whopping suicide rate for those who have crossed over to the other side and can’t return to the other bank of the river.
