A presenter of Scottish and Irish music for BBC Radio Scotland, Radio 3, BBC2 and BBC 4, was found slumped drunk in a stationary car, blocking a narrow Highlands road.

Mary Ann Kennedy, 47, was said to be seven times over the drink-drive limit. She’s been banned for four years.

It’s her second ban.

  • Will Duffay says:

Why do we need to know about this?

    • Adam says:

Why is it cruel? Nothing wrong with a bit of public shaming for this sort of thing. What about the pedestrians, cyclists or motorists she could have injured/killed while under the influence?

  • Step Parikian says:

Agreed – I would suggest you take this down. Unkind and unnecessary to make this public – and to finish with a flip comment is puerile.

  • Donald Hamilton says:

Agreed. No need to write this.

  • SB says:

Agree with the above comments. Totally unnecessary and quite cruel.

  • PRC says:

    Agreed-neither necessary nor fair.

  • Peter Freeman says:

Isn’t drink driving far more cruel? As a long-quit drinker and long-time driver myself, but who never drove after any alcohol, I have no sympathy for anyone who does, no matter how pretty they might look. The resulting roadside corpses look far from glamorous. A life-time ban is the only just form of public protection.

  • Pamela Brown says:

IMO, she needs to walk (not drive) to the nearest AA club and do 90 meetings in 90 days…

  • Ray Richardson says:

I’m sorry but I can’t refrain from saying once again that NL unfortunately has a weakness for sensationalism. He has previously removed my comments, but I will be delighted this time if he removes the complete article.

    • Adam says:

Nothing sensationalist about this. Seems entirely factual to me.

      • Ray Richardson says:

“BBC Radio 3 Presenter ‘Found Slumped’ in Car”: if you dont think that’s a sensationalist headline, then you can’t see further than the words. Which of these two papers, The Guardian or The Sun would any English reader associate with this headline? That says it.
