The conductor Seiji Ozawa, 79, making a slow comeback from cancer, has been forced to cancel three appearances at the  Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival in Japan after falling and breaking a hip. We wish him a good recovery.

He is replaced by the American, Gil Rose.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Maestro Ozawa. Best wishes from Kalamazoo.

  • Jonathan M. Dunsby says:

That’s a great shame – Ozawa has led miraculous performances over the years. Boulez had a similar fall and fracture in his early 80s which took him a long time to recover from. BTW, unless anybody has heard otherwise, I assume that M. Boulez has retired from conducting ?
