Nina Totenberg, legal affairs correspondent for the US NPR network, has named the violinist whom her father, Roman Totenberg, suspected of stealing his Stradivarius in 1980. The violin was recovered this week.

The suspected thief, who died in 2011, ‘eventually moved to California, had an undistinguished musical career and died of cancer at age 58, a year before my father died at the age of 101.’

An amazing story! Just a shame Totenberg died before it was returned to the family.
